The gear attached to that barbary falcon (a male) is not jesses/handling gear. Rather what you see there is a noose apparatus that is tied to the tarsi of the barbary. This is a mechanisim used by falcon trappers to trap a second falcon, using the barbary as bait. You should know that this is an outdated and much frowned upon technique that does not represent modern falconry. The person who did this is not likely a falconer, but rather a person doing this for economic reasons. Real falconers are dedicated conservationists and would never purchase a bird from such a person. I hope you will see that falconry, when performed correctly, is simply a means to witness the majesty of falcon evolution at close range - and the falcons are kept in pristine condition and are at ease in the cooperative relationship that benefits them.

https://vimeo.com/80850487Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05875764545292311775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891403197049817523.post-56022078637910944112012-02-16T09:44:46.795+00:002012-02-16T09:44:46.795+00:00The bird did not get electrocuted - it got tangled...The bird did not get electrocuted - it got tangled on the pylon by the snares connected to its legsYoav Perlmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00573947203380265081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891403197049817523.post-64158822904312986352012-02-15T23:48:47.353+00:002012-02-15T23:48:47.353+00:00I was trying to be funny with my comment about sna...I was trying to be funny with my comment about snakes and a small penis. People often commented that I kept snakes to compensate for a lack of prowess in that area. It was all true.
It's a shame that such a beautiful bird got electricuted, and lucky that you did not.johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05008523039059312800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891403197049817523.post-2387889844196031372012-02-15T16:44:28.210+00:002012-02-15T16:44:28.210+00:00An unnessary tragedy. You did not get electrocuted ...An unnessary tragedy. You did not get electrocuted for a good course.God bless you.Mpho Phirihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08279217432865576812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891403197049817523.post-76258346664372262872012-02-15T16:42:41.791+00:002012-02-15T16:42:41.791+00:00an entertaining and refreshingly BS-free post Yoav...an entertaining and refreshingly BS-free post Yoav.

best,
MarkMark James Pearsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11243356129679938013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891403197049817523.post-42500885533491568492012-02-15T06:11:16.717+00:002012-02-15T06:11:16.717+00:00Hi John, take it easy, I know you are one of the g...Hi John, take it easy, I know you are one of the good guys. I was talking about those Arabian Sheikhs, trapping thousands of wild falcons every year for this trade, and then using them to hunt endangered bustards and sandgrouse.Yoav Perlmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00573947203380265081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2891403197049817523.post-6893972636870195982012-02-14T22:29:24.290+00:002012-02-14T22:29:24.290+00:00It's amazing how pale that Merlin was. Cruelty and neglect to captive animals does.johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05008523039059312800noreply@blogger.com
